About Anshul

Who Am I and What I do

My name is Anshul and I live in sunny Sydney, Australia with my lovely wife, great friends and family. My journey into the world of internet marketing is not the all too familiar “sick of 9-5 job” story. I actually really enjoyed my job making awesome computer generated effects for multi million dollar hollywood blockbusters. In 2006 I won an academy award for my contribution to the hit animated feature film “Happy Feet” and other numerous awards along the way. So, I can safely say that my job was actually quite rewarding.

How I Started Online

My journey into the world of entrepreneurship and internet marketing was really fuelled by my love for challenges and a never ending drive to succeed in everything I do. I knew that my job would continue to reward me but I had the entrepreneurial bug and then in early 2011 I decided to take the plunge. The only problem was, I had absolutely no idea where and how to start. Sounds familiar right? While I was contemplating an internet marketing business I also launched an online fashion store on Ebay selling ex season clothing while working full time.

Selling on eBay was an extremely profitable business model and within months we were turning over close to $10k/month. Then I discovered adsense. I absolutely loved the idea of getting paid everytime someone clicks on an ad within your content. Doesn’t get much easier does it? Did you also know that upto 97% of Google’s $32 billion revenues in any given quarter come from advertising alone! Sounds very tempting to get a slice of the cake doesn’t it?

How Much Money Have I Made Online So Far?

Great question. While I don’t publish monthly income reports like a lot of marketers do (as I don’t even know if half of them are telling the truth) I am very happy to share how much I used to make in my job and how much I am making on an average now since leaving my job late in 2011. This allows for complete transparency so you can also learn about my journey and how built my income during and after leaving my day job.

In my day job I used to earn $130,000/year (including taxes) so my take home monthly salary every month was close to $8000/month. Not bad.

Now, how about my online businesses?

When I started selling on eBay sometime in January 2011, we were turning over about $800/month in the first month really just selling “stuff” from around the house. Between January 2011 and April 2011 I experimented with many different things including fashion, CD’s, DVD’s, LED Lights and even books. Most of these things did ok but it wasn’t the kind of money you could retire on.

My big break came in May 2011, when I discovered that there was a big market for selling ex season branded clothing on eBay and I haven’t looked back since. Since June 2011 – December 2011 we sold over $65,000 worth of products on eBay with an average 40% profits margins so that equates to about $3800 in pure profits every single month. Not bad for a part time effort while working 9-6, 5 days a week:)

I started building niche sites sometime in July 2011 and during the first two-three months I made a measly $300 from AdSense and Amazon affiliate program. I launched about 60 niche sites at the end of October 2011 and since then I have been making on an average $1000-$1500 month from AdSense alone. I have also sold about $10,000 worth of products on Amazon since October 2011. Additionally,  I also promote products from Market Health where I have collected about $600 worth of checks in the last 6-8 months.

So my total average as it currently stands is around $6000/month which does not include the affiliate commissions that comes from this blog (I prefer not to disclose that figure).  All in all I am reasonably happy with that kind of money considering I am not tied to a desk in a day job 5 days a week plus I am constantly adding additional source of revenues to grow my online income.

Why did I Start This Niche Marketing Blog?

When I first started in niche marketing I felt that there was a lot of free information out there on how to make money online but none of them actually showed you how to build a business in a simple step-by-step way. For anyone just starting out in internet marketing, this is often the biggest stumbling block, not really knowing where to start!  At the start I attended a lot internet marketing seminars and invested in a few paid courses. I wouldn’t say all of them were worth their money but some did help me take that first step and I haven’t looked backed since.

I do give a lot of credit to a fellow internet marketer by the name of Trent Dyrsmid who I learned a lot from at the start. You can watch me interview Trent in this post and you will see why I am such a big fan of Trent!

Ok, back to this blog:) This blog is really my way of sharing knowledge especially with aspiring marketers just starting out. Although the primary focus of this blog is to show you how to make money with adsense I will from time to time also post information related to affiliate marketing, online business, entrepreneurship, entrepreneurial mindset and motivational tricks I use everyday to drive me and keep me going.

If this is the first time you have visited my blog I would urge you to download a copy of my free guide on how to launch your first adsense niche site complete with step-by-step instructions to get you started.

What Can I Tell You About Success

Don’t be an opportunist! Making money online requires time, patience and a lot of effort over a long period of time. There are literally hundreds of different ways you can make money online but you have to pick one strategy, learn everything you can about it and then focus a building a real business around it. You will be tempted to try AdSense one day, affiliate marketing the next or eBay another. Let me tell you, that is a sure fire recipe for disaster. Rich Schefren talks about why opportunists fail and strategic entrepreneurs succeed because the latter have a plan to follow while the opportunity seekers are just chasing $$$$ signs.

A quick disclaimer

I by no means consider myself an internet marketing guru. Although I have had more success with adsense than 95% of the marketers out there, I am still very much discovering and learning every single day. All the tips, tricks and information shared in this blog have worked for me but I cannot guarantee that this will work for everyone else. Mastering the art of making money online does require a lot of hard work, patience and to some extent a fait bit of experimentation and luck.

Having said all that, I am definitely here to help you and answer your questions to guide you to the right path so please feel free to contact me if you ever feel stuck, need help or just feel like a chat!

Thanks again for stopping by and I wish you all the best with your online endeavours.

    Hey Anshut,
Great inspiring story. However, I am wondering about one thing. You launched around 60 niche websites which are making merely $1000-1500 per month. Is it too difficult to setup online profitable business ?

    • Anshul October 24, 2012 at 3:39 pm #

      Hey Amit,

Depends on your definition of “difficult” as there is a level of effort and commitment needed for any type of business. 50-60 sites was really a demonstration of what was possible and majority of people will probably not even make $1500/month. My online clothing is business was and still my primary focus, everything else is just extra passive income.

60 niches websites! wow! I have 8 blogs and I am having a hard time posting and taking care each and one of them.

You are really a professional blogger, Kudos! great story

Hey Dustin, I know a guy who owns 3000 websites! so 60 is a small effort in comparison. Thanks for the comment:)

You’re really inspiring. I currently manage two websites. One for blogging and the other as an affiliate site in the name of http://www.facetwitting.com It’s really amazing that you certainly have the extra time to manage all your 60 websites.
Even managing 2 websites is indeed a headache for me but with commitment and persistence, I know I will succeed.
